Let's take a walk!

Healthy Hearts @ PakLab

The No. 1 cause of death in the United States is cardiovascular disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. In 2015, a total of 614,348 deaths were attributed to heart disease in the U.S. alone. That's more than the combined total for the No. 3 through No. 7 leading causes!

Fortunately, there's an easy and fun way to combat heart disease. Just take a walk!

Not only does physical activity help to combat heart disease, but it can help to decrease the chances of having other medical conditions – that are also risk factors – such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes, according to the CDC.

The first Wednesday in April is National Walking Day, so in order to celebrate, PakLab teamed up with the American Heart Association® and hosted a company Heart Walk® for all employees at our Chino location. We gathered at 9am, laced up our tennis shoes, & took to the sidewalks!

It doesn't just have to be National Walking Day to get moving. A brisk walk everyday can be an enjoyable way to break up the monotony of the work day – grab a walking partner, a bottle of water, and a few minutes of break time!

And we're not the only ones stretching our legs! Check out this article by The Press Enterprise featuring more than two dozen Inland companies and organizations.

Walk on, friends!
